5 Seconds of Summer’s Youngblood Album

By Asia Yandan

After a three year hiatus, pop-rock turned pop-alternative band 5 Seconds of Summer released their long awaited album, Youngblood on June 15, 2018.

The first thing that caught my attention was their album cover. It is aesthetically appealing and gives off an 80’s vibe with an ombre of colors that look like neon fluorescent lights.

There are a variety of songs from upbeat bops to others that pull at your heartstrings. This album showcases all of the members’ abilities, whether it is their vocals or instrument playing.

All of the songs have catchy lyrics and melodies, especially the song Valentine. The noticeable bass riffs will make you want to sing along.

Meet you There has a melodic drum breakdown which contrasts well with the vocals and makes you want to dance.

I would highly recommend that people listen to this album. It is a more mature sound with relevant lyrics, compared to their past two albums. Out of their three albums, this one is my favorite!
